DON’T RAISE AN A**HOLE

Yes, you read that correctly. Having children is a privilege that should never be taken for granted. If you ask me, having a child is giving yourself a second chance at life. It’s a chance to right your wrongs, right the wrongs that were done onto you as a child, right your parents wrongs, grow as a person and gain a life-altering responsibility. People debate whether or not bringing a life into todays world is a good idea because we’re living in such bad times, but if you ask me, bringing a kid into the world and raising them to be a genuinely good person is just what this world needs.

The world is filled with assholes, we really don’t need another one. You, the parent, are the most powerful force and influence in your child's life. You have complete power in shaping your child to who you would want them to be out in the world. Your kid can have many figures in their lives, but none will be as powerful as you.

Here are a few things we parents need to do to raise good people:

1.) TEACH YOUR CHILD TO BE KIND

• Again, no one wants to be around an asshole. Teach your kid to do good in the world and treat your fellow human with kindness. They will thank you when they grow up.

2.) TEACH YOUR CHILD RESPECT

• A please and thank you will go a very long way. Have your child say “please” when they ask for something and a “thank you” when they get it. This should be obvious but you’d be surprise how many kids think they’re entitled to what they want and don’t feel like they need to say please or thank you. Like I said, don’t raise an asshole.

3.) NEVER FIGHT WITH YOUR SPOUSE IN FRONT OF YOUR KIDS.

• If you constantly raise your voices toward one another or towards them, your child will grow up thinking it’s normal and eventually will carry that on into their home when they’re adults. This is so important it can really mess your children up.

4.) TEACH THEM TO STAND UP FOR THEMSELVES AND FOR WHAT IS RIGHT

• If little Jimmy is getting picked on in the playground, teach your kid to stand up for him. Your child should know that is wrong and should be brave stand up for those who cannot and to stand up for themselves as well.

5.) TEACH THEM LOVE

Love is the most powerful tool in the world. Having genuine love in your heart and showing them that will make all the difference.
