A DAY AT THE AQUARIUM

It felt so nice to be outdoors after a year of our “three week stay at home order.” There was a huge sense of normalcy in the air and it felt like things are turning for the better. We thought it would be a great idea to take the kids to the Aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach. Arianna loves looking at fishes and animals of all kinds so we were excited to see her reactions. The aquarium opened up while observing a few covid restrictions, which one of them was to open it to limited capacity. We did not mind at all. It was nice not to have a big crowd to work your way through and stand in long lines. We booked our tickets a week in advance and went with no issues at all. The front door has an employee checking your tickets and temperature for entrance, and then you’re pretty much on your own.

We had taken Arianna when she was Dominics age (6months) and obviously she enjoyed it a lot more than when she was little. She very much enjoyed looking at the sharks while mimicking the baby shark dance with her hands, and pointing at the baby otters and yelling “WOW!” Oddly enough, the penguins scared her. I pointed them out to her and her response was she closed her eyes with her hands and said “NO! NO! NO!” We had a bit of difficulty trying to wrangle her because she does not like to be held or put in her stroller when she is outdoors. Once you take her outdoors, she just runs. So it was a bit of a challenge when we would restrain her from running. I feel like Dominic enjoyed himself as well. He was staring at the fishes, otters and all the animals very intently. He smiled at a few of them too. I know he is too young to understand what was happening but I’m pretty sure he enjoyed being outdoors and seeing all the colors of everything.

The thing I love about the Aquarium is that it is not that big where you have to hit so many spots, it’s a small place where you can spend around 2 hours and pretty much get to see everything. If you are looking to do something with the family, I highly recommend it. It will give you an excuse to go outside and your kids will be happy and busy.
