THE GREAT WOES OF DAYCARE/PRESCHOOL

If you have come to this part of my blog, you have already read my entry on Arianna starting day care and how much positive change and growth we have seen in her. If you have not, go back to that post and read it before you read this one.

There is a down side to starting school; ever since Arianna started school, she has been sick at least once a month. She has had fever after fever, cold after cold, runny nose, horrible coughs, 2 ear infections and a upper respiratory infection. So many urgent care and doctor visits, I’ve lost count. I know this is very normal with babies starting school but it does not make it any less infuriating. Poor kid it seems like she has been sick this entire year so far and it’s so heartbreaking to see your kid go through all of this and then, to top it all off, she gets Dominic sick constantly. Her pediatrician says that the first year of starting school for kids is the hardest: they are picking up all kinds of new germs and viruses that their immune system has not built a tolerance to and it gets them sick.

And just when you think she has finally kicked her flu or cold, she comes home with another one. I can’t tell you what the reason if for sure but my guess is because of IDIOT parents who send their kid off to school despite a runny nose or a cough. This is all because their irresponsible ass doesn’t want to deal with their kid at home all day when they can drop them off and have the teachers worry about them. Of course, my rugrat is the lucky one who picks it up and brings it home for the entire family to enjoy.

Bottom line, if you are thinking of sending your kid to school, you need to know and understand that this is what you’re facing. Yes, it is so important for their development to start early, but this is a reality. Do your research and ask friends, family and even their pediatrician for advice. Also, if your kid is sick, keep them home until their better. Don’t be an ass.
